This is my second time visiting The Alan and it did not disappoint – if anything coming back made me enjoy it even more having that comfort of knowing what to expect.
We were booked into the signature deluxe double which has the largest hotel bed I’ve ever slept in and all the mod-cons you could need. There’s something I really like about being able to plug my phone into a speaker when staying in a hotel. At The Alan Manchester, rooms are designed with an urban, cool edge with lime wash walls and exposed pipes giving that New York feel. The muted tones of the rooms made the overall ambience very relaxing both night and day.
The room we stayed in looked over the street and was incredibly quiet for Manchester City centre. My only tip would be to ensure the air con/heating system is turned all the way off when you sleep otherwise it can be very noisy throughout the night.

The location of the hotel itself is on Princess Street, about a 10 minute walk (or less) to the ‘centre’ and around a 20 minute maximum walk to anywhere else you need to go in the City.
We were booked into the hotel restaurant where you can either sit up close at the open kitchen or sit a little further back in the restaurant, but with a good view of what’s going on from your table. The menus change every so often and with plenty of veggie and fish options I had no issues with being hungry. The stand out for me was the Quickes Goats Cheese Pudding which was perfect as an appetiser/starter. The menu is designed to either be tapas or your standard two to four course meal. We opted for tapas and treated ourselves to various dishes such as, Grilled Turbot, butterbean hummus and a Parfait to finish. Their wine selection is incredibly good with each colour of wine split into their respective categories, and if only I had remembered to take a picture of the label as it was delicious!

There are other services that The Alan Manchester provides that we unfortunately couldn’t take advantage of (or fortunately given we were not working over the weekend), one being their co-working space which is open for creators who want a fresh, open space to work. Keep your eyes peeled as there’s usually deals for those who come in Mon-Thurs.
If you’re looking for somewhere central in Manchester either for business or leisure The Alan might just be for you. Modern, stylish but with an arty edge, it makes for the perfect stay.
