Brand New Lush Spa Rewilding Facial Treatment

We sent our girl Rachel McAlley to Lush Spa in Leeds to try out the new Rewilding Facial Treatment.

Fresh handmade cosmetics company Lush just launched a new, lifting rewilding facial spa treatment. Specifically made with ingredients that help rewild habitats across the globe, and fresh formulas that provide nourishment to the skin.

This 50-minute lifting facial utilises hot and cold therapy, facial massage and lymphatic techniques to make skin look sculpted and rejuvenated. All while listening to the tune of a bespoke soundtrack of historic nature folk songs.

Much like the forests and seas of planet earth, the microbiome is the skin’s own ecosystem and an essential part of the skin barrier. Furthermore, this new facial has been created by Lush’s in-house spa development team to achieve maximum results with minimal interference.

Rewilding Facial Products

I ventured downstairs into the Lush Spa Leeds, which has recently had a refurbishment and looks and feels like a relaxing alpine resort spa. You’d never know there was this calming, unique space under the streets of Leeds city centre.

I sat comfortably on the new Lush chairs where Abby, my therapist talked me through every aspect of the Rewilding Facial. All the products were placed before me to see, touch, and smell.

Rewilding Facial

The treatment begins with a double cleanse, where Lush’s gentle signature cleanser Ultrabland or vegan alternative Ultraplant is massaged into the skin. The cleanser is then removed with beautifully warming mitts. Drop of Hope soap is then applied for a foaming cleanse using facial brushes. It contains moisturising rapeseed oil from Fukushima, which provides a vital source of income for people who lost their livelihoods in the nuclear disaster.

The brushes feel soft and gentle on the skin, and you can tell it is the best soap you’ve ever used on your face.

The plant has the unique ability to soak up irradiated caesium from the soil. However, when you extract oil from the seeds, the caesium stays in the plant, so is completely safe to use while also cleaning the soil and regenerating the land.

Lush’s firming and brightening Ayesha face mask, featuring asparagus and dark patchouli oil, is then applied. Lush purchases this wonderful oil in collaboration with the Orangutan Information Center in a way that doesn’t further damage the forests of Sumatra, Indonesia. Moreover, this helps to aid the forests regeneration through the use of permaculture practices.

While the face mask is replenishing the skin, tension is worked out of the neck and head using firm-pressure massage, knuckling and long strokes into the shoulders.

The Rewilding Facial

Full Of Grace facial serum is then applied and worked into the face. This light serum is made with illipe butter and portobello mushroom. Both rich in vitamins B and C, and believed to have antioxidant properties. The therapist then works the serum into the face and neck. Focus is on sculpting work around the cheekbones, jawline and up to the forehead. It includes stretches and light pinching, flicking, tapping and stroking to stimulate a healthy glow. This all feels robust, deep, and a little bit like a gym session on your face!

Uplifting cold therapy using a witchhazel and peppermint jelly face mask soothes the skin and brings you back out of your deep state of relaxation. In addition, Gorgeous moisturiser (or a tailored alternative) is applied in the final stages for a healthy glow. It is imbued with the finest cold-pressed and organic oils (originally formulated for Princess Diana!). Plus, fresh fruit juices to deeply rejuvenate the skin.

The cold therapy works in exactly the same way as if you were to swim in the cold sea or take a cold-water therapy bath. Your skin is shocked, helping to open pores, plump the skin, and produce healthy skin regeneration.

Rewilding Facial

Soundtracked by Lush’s in-house band, Fresh Handmade Sound. The Rewilding facial’s soundtrack covers the changing of the seasons using renditions of folk songs that are centuries-old odes to nature.

I was left relaxed, fresh, and like my face had experienced a bespoke workout!

This new treatment is also fully adaptable for clients with facial hair. Furthermore, it will feature a different range of products and techniques that get to the skin below the beard. Finishing off with beard brushing to leave it looking its best.

The Rewilding Facial is a 50-minute treatment and is priced at £125. Launched in Lush Spas nationwide today, 20th March 2025.

Book yourself a Rewilding Facial via the Lush App or visit the Lush website.

Please note cameras, mobile phones, and video footage is not allowed once the treatment is in progress. The images of the treatment itself were provided by Lush for use within the feature.
