Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? Then why not make it a reality by heading to a snowy ski resort this festive season?
Whether you want to get your adrenaline pumping on the slopes, feel merry and bright at après ski, enjoy festive treats (or all the above!) there are plenty of fantastic destinations to choose from. Here are four of the best places for a ski holiday to remember this Christmas.
Zermatt, Switzerland

The beautiful town of Zermatt, Switzerland, sits just below the iconic pyramid-shaped peak of the Matterhorn. It’s a hugely popular ski resort for good reason, with charming shops and restaurants, a buzzing apres-ski scene and a fantastic range of runs.
It’s a car-free town, making it a great place to wander around admiring the twinkly Christmas lights. After some time on the slopes, why not hit the outdoor ice rink in the centre of town? Then feel festive by the fire as you sip mulled wine and try local cheeses.
Val d’Isere, France

Interested in a festive ski holiday in France? Then Val d’Isere is sure to impress. This winter wonderland is open throughout the festive season, even Christmas Day, so you can hit the slopes to your heart’s content.
You can also expect an array of events in the centre of the resort. Marvel at the giant snow and ice sculptures, enjoy firework displays and watch the magical torchlit descent and ski show. You can even visit Father Christmas himself!
Tignes, France

Tignes is a charming resort nestled in the beautiful French Alps and is renowned for its high-altitude skiing. “It’s one of Europe’s highest ski resorts”, with the village “nestled between 5,095 and 6,890 ft” and the highest slopes reaching “a whopping 11,338 ft”.
There are incredibly scenic runs for both advanced skiers and beginners in Tignes, as well as a range of activities to enjoy during Christmas. Wander around the market, see live concerts, watch fireworks and enjoy the Father Christmas parade. Joyeux Noel!
St. Anton am Arlberg, Austria

Often known as St. Anton, this picture-perfect ski resort is the perfect place to spend the festive season. It’s located in the Tyrolean Alps in western Austria and is part of the largest inter-connect ski area in the country, with over 300km of marked slopes.
You can expect plenty of magical moments over the festive period in St. Anton. Head to “Advent Magic in the Park” to take part in a Christmas-themed trail, where you can get crafty in the elves’ workshop, sample traditional baked goods and enjoy a life-size nativity scene.
