The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, situated on the pristine south-west coast of Malaysia’s Jewel of Kedah, announces the launch of its newest guest experience, a private Lagoon 620 sailing catamaran with luxury itineraries. Named to symbolize enduring grace, Dayang Mastura will provide guests with an exceptional private charter experience and an invitation to explore Langkawi’s breathtaking Andaman coastline – the ultimate Langkawi sailing experience.

An extension to The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi’s commitment to transformative travel and cultural storytelling, elegantly curated private yacht excursions will be tailored to celebrate the resort’s unique island location – hugged by ancient rainforest steeped in local legend. Whether hosting intimate celebrations, milestone gatherings, romantic escapes or inspired corporate retreats, Dayang Mastura offers the opportunity to sail into serenity, to celebrate life’s cherished moments, and to witness Langkawi’s archipelago from a magical perspective.

Conceived as a sanctuary on water, Dayang Mastura reflects refined European craftsmanship, its interiors by Nauta Design, blending contemporary elegance with the spirit of the sea. With capacity for up to 20 guests, the yacht’s luxuriously appointed indoor and outdoor spaces include expansive dining areas, a salon and lounge, sunbathing decks and a dedicated yoga and meditation space. Paddleboards, kayaks, snorkelling and fishing equipment invite active discovery, and with four ensuite cabins the yacht is perfectly suited for celebrations at sea.

Available for full-day charters or curated sunset cruises, each experience begins at Telaga Harbour Park yachting marina, just a five-minute drive from the resort, where a dedicated captain and crew welcome guests aboard with a selection of aperitifs before setting sail across the shimmering Andaman Sea.

The journey traces the dramatic Machinchang Coast, passing through the tranquil Straits of Chinchin toward the Andaman Sea’s enchanting island trio, including Pulau Rebak Besar and Pulau Intan Kecil. Here, sheltered coves and translucent waters provide the perfect setting for snorkelling, swimming and gentle marine exploration in vibrant reefs where sightings of sergeant majors, parrotfish and damselfish are common.

Anchored with a backdrop of the ancient silhouette of the Machinchang mountain range, guests will relax on deck and indulge in a bespoke picnic prepared by the resort’s private chef. Menus draw inspiration from Langkawi’s rich culinary heritage, featuring refined interpretations of local favourites from Kuih Rotan and Kerabu Kale, to seasonal sliced fruits and Kuih Lapis. Fresh canapés are served against uninterrupted sea views, accompanied by the soothing lapping of waves and sea eagles gliding overhead.

As golden hour descends, sunset voyages transform the coastline into a living canvas. Evening journeys will trace the shores of untouched islands while guests savour freshly prepared culinary treats of Lempeng with Sambal Bilis, Thai Beef Salad, Banana Cake and Pandan Financiers. As the yacht cuts through waters illuminated in amber light—an unforgettable journey beneath a starlit sky unfolds.

Private yacht charter of Dayang Mastura starts from MYR 8,800 / £1,600.

Friendship Travel is highlighting two hosted solo holidays for summer 2026; its pottery-focused trip in Bodrum and a sociable house-party stay in Kefalonia, following strong early booking interest for the season. With grey skies and low winter temperatures prompting travellers to plan ahead, more solo guests are securing summer trips early to guarantee sunshine and sociable support abroad.

Friendship Travel, the UK’s leading specialist in holidays exclusively for solo travellers, offers a wide range of hosted trips designed to create connection, comfort and confidence abroad. With introductions, shared dining and group activities built into every itinerary, guests travel independently while enjoying a sociable and supportive environment.

For summer 2026, Friendship Travel is highlighting two warm-weather escapes that bring together relaxation, culture and shared experiences, each hosted throughout and created with solo travellers in mind.

At the centre of the property is a peaceful pool surrounded by gardens, while the roof terrace bar offers panoramic views across the resort. This trip features a distinctive highlight: hands-on pottery workshops led by hotel owner Esra, who brings over two decades of experience. Classes take place in the hotel’s Esramics Studio and focus on hand-building clay techniques. All materials are provided, and by the end of the week each guest completes and fires two ceramic pieces to take home as a personal memento.

Bedrooms are stylishly designed with queen-size beds, balcony or terrace, air-conditioning, safe and bathrobe. Larger junior suites are available for a supplement.

New data from Perfect Stays, the luxury holiday rental specialists, has found that wellness-led staycations are no longer just a niche trend; they are now becoming the standard.

The travel company found that holiday homes with wellness facilities now account for 62% of all bookings taken so far in 2026. This has risen from 53% in 2025,47% in 2024 and 43% in 2023, highlighting a clear year-on-year shift towards focused wellness breaks.

The data suggests that wellness travellers are now choosing a holiday rental to curate a personalised, private experience over a typical spa retreat. Commenting on the booking trends, Joe Knight, Head of Sales and Guest Experience, says:

“At Perfect Stays, we’re seeing more guests use their time away to prioritise wellness together. Rather than travelling alone for wellbeing, friends, partners and families are choosing to share the experience – turning their stay into a chance to reconnect while focusing on their health. Through our concierge service, guests can curate a fully personalised wellness retreat within the privacy of a holiday rental. Whether it’s private yoga, Pilates or sauna sessions, they have the freedom to move at their own pace – without the constraints of fixed schedules or larger group settings.”

Along with the data, Perfect Stays has highlighted a selection of luxury holiday homes in the South West designed for wellness breaks, with sea-view baths, hot tubs and calm, yoga-ready spaces, which we are delighted to share with you.

Constantia| Constantine Bay | Sleeps 12

After bracing beach walks, guests can unwind by the wood burner, blending invigorating coastal living with calm, comfort and connection in nature.

Direct flights to Barbados are available from Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and Birmingham. Guests may book flights independently or through Princess Cruises’ Plane Sailing service, which provides added peace of mind with late‑arrival protection.

Eithne Williamson, Princess Cruises UK, Ireland & EMEA vice president, said: “This expansion to include Barbados departures adds even greater variety in the highly sought‑after Southern Caribbean and provides greater convenience to our guests travelling from the UK.

The Greek Islands have always been a popular holiday choice, but they have never been more so than this year. We have been speaking with our travel experts Idle Travel to find out why.

We are all desperate for a holiday after what seems like an endless winter, and if that includes guaranteed sun, crystal clear water, fun and relaxation then let’s get booking! For all things travel we always go to the experts at Idle Travel, and we were thrilled to hear that the Greek Islands are looking a solid option for summer 2026 and with direct flights to the islands from most regional airports, it’s never been easier to indulge in a sunshine break.

So, let’s highlight a few of these beautiful islands and get those holiday juices flowing.

Crete

Greek Islands

As the largest of the Greek Islands, it’s no surprise Crete’s got a lot going on, and that’s certainly the case on the eastern side, where adventure-ready mountains sit alongside neon-lit clubs, sleepy towns and ancient Minoan treasures. Mega town Malia is where the party happens, Stalis is the place to while away the days on a sandy beach and Rethymnon has a gorgeous harbour and Old Town to explore. Then there’s Elounda where things get a bit swankier – Crete has it all going on!

Santorini

Greek Islands

Out-of-this-world sunsets – tick. Stunning sea views – tick. Pretty whitewashed towns – tick! Filled with chic bars, swanky restaurants and swish boutiques, photogenic Santorini will sweep you straight off your feet. There are two different sides to this superb island. Over on the west, iconic villages like Oia, Fira and Imerovigli overlook an enchanting caldera and the twinkling Aegean. While in the east, in resorts like Kamari and Perissa, it’s all about volcanic shores, where black-sand beaches beckon with turquoise waters. Romantic Greek escapes this way!

Kos

Greek Islands

Egyptians, Romans and Venetians were once drawn to these shores. Nowadays, vibrant party people and history buffs flock to check out the clubbing scene and grand ancient architecture, in equal measure. Think days of sheer exploration followed by nights on the town. You’ll be in for a treat with the best of both worlds!

Kefalonia

Greek Islands

With its rugged mountains, lush vineyards and golden beaches, Kefalonia is a picture-book island paradise. Lakes and caves will draw you into this oh-so scenic setting of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, while feta-covered foods are the local must-eats. Here, days are all about kicking back on the vine-shaded terrace of a taverna or pitching up on a blissful beach and waiting for sunset. Sounds perfect!

Rhodes

Rhodes

Cosmopolitan but steeped in history and ancient architecture, Rhodes Town is both sides of the coin. Beaches and sun-kissed seas come as standard, but boutiques, bazaars, mazes of cobbled streets and pavement restaurants sit in the centre. The Grand Master of Knights and Mandraki Harbour are the main highlights while sandy coves and a famous spa make Kalithea a family-friendly spot, with staggering over-spilling views to delight in. Arabic-style mosaics scatter the resort, while things err on the traditional side in the glorious Greek tavernas.

Zante

Zante

Just off the south-west tip of mainland Greece, Zante is a glimmering Ionian jewel, where families come to relax, clubbers come to dance and sea turtles come to nest. Coves of curving azure water and sun-speckled sand are where you will want to spend all your days. After a resort with a lively vibe? Laganas is a neon-lit playground for party goers. Zante is definitely a party island, but it is also so much more than that!

Whichever island is ticking your holiday boxes, speak with the team at Idle Travel and make sure your holiday is everything you want it to be.

In the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees, food is more than just taste; it’s an experience. The local cuisine tells stories of fishermen coming back at dawn, farmers cooking through cold winters, trade routes shaping flavours, and families passing down recipes as part of who they are.

To give you a taste of these unique Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees flavours, here are eight dishes you should try when visiting this part of Catalonia.

  1. Pa amb tomàquet (bread with tomato)
Few dishes are as simple or as meaningful as Pa amb tomàquet. Crusty bread is rubbed with ripe tomato, finished with extra-virgin olive oil and a touch of salt. What began as a practical habit, born in the countryside, evolved into one of the most recognisable expressions of Catalan culture. Pa amb tomàquet appears at family tables, tapas bars, Michelin-starred restaurants and seaside terraces alike.
  2. Arròs mar i muntanya (sea and mountain rice)
Perhaps no dish represents the Costa Brava better than Arròs mar i muntanya, which literally means “sea and mountain rice”. This dish combines fresh seafood and mountain meats with seasonal vegetables and is often prepared using the prized rice of Pals, renowned for its exceptional texture and quality. The dish reflects the region: fishing villages along the coast and agricultural communities inland.

  1. Trinxat de Cerdanya
Trinxat de Cerdanya, a traditional mountain dish from the Girona Pyrenees, particularly associated with the Cerdanya region. It’s made by boiling cabbage and potatoes, then mashing them together and frying the mixture with bacon or pork fat until lightly crisp on the outside. Its origins are rural, and potatoes were plentiful. Today, it remains widely served in Pyrenean restaurants and is especially popular during winter, although it is available year-round.
  2. Bunyols de Bacallà (Cod fritters)
Bunyols de Bacallà are small fritters made from shredded salt cod mixed with garlic, parsley, flour, and egg, fried until golden and crisp. Salt cod became a stable ingredient in Catalonia due to its long preservation life before refrigeration.

It played a crucial role in coastal trade and religious observance, particularly during Lent, when meat consumption was restricted. These fritters are served as an appetiser in many restaurants and tapas bars throughout the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees.

  1. Suquet de Peix (Fish stew)
Suquet de peix originated in a fishermen’s recipe in the Costa Brava region. It was originally made on fishing boats using unsold fish and pantry staples. The recipe combines various types of white fish depending on the day’s catch, potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, and a classic Catalan picada of nuts (usually hazelnuts or almonds), garlic and parsley. Suquet de peix has become a recognised regional speciality after being a simple working-class meal. Today, it is commonly found on menus in restaurants along the coast, especially in towns like Roses, Palamós, Calella de Palafrugell and Cadaqués. It is still one of the most characteristic seafood recipes of the Costa Brava.

  1. Pollastre amb llagosta (Chicken with lobster)
Pollastre amb llagosta is one of the most famous dishes that showcase the ”sea and mountain” tradition of Catalan cuisine, where the sauce may include tomato, wine, and a nut-based picada. The combination of chicken and lobster represents the historical fusion of farming communities in the mountains and fishing communities. Traditionally served at special occasions, it has become a staple in many restaurants in Costa Brava. This dish showcases how the Catalan cuisine is able to combine opposing ingredients to create a balanced and complex flavour.
  2. Xuixo de Girona (Cream-filled fritters)
The xuixo is the most representative pastry of the city of Girona. A cylinder-shaped pastry that is deep-fried and filled with cream and sugar. Its origins start in the early 20th century, and it’s still very common in bakeries. Traditional xuixos are filled with pastry cream, they are also made with chocolate or fruit preserves. It is usually eaten as a breakfast pastry or as a snack.

  1. Taps de Cadaqués
Taps are small sponge cakes, originating in Cadaqués, a coastal town. The history stretches back to the 18th century, when trade routes between Catalonia and the Caribbean influenced their creation. The cakes were typically flavoured with rum and baked in individual moulds. The cork-like appearance of the cakes led to their name, as “tap” is the word for ”cork” in Catalan. Today taps remain a local speciality and are made in Cadaqués to this day, symbolising the town’s historical link with overseas trade.

Britons are being urged to explore seven UK locations where some of the country’s rarest and most unique wildlife thrive in their natural habitat. Ecologists from Arbtech.co.uk have highlighted top spots across England, Scotland, and Wales including coastal sites, National Parks, and expansive moorland.

From islands declared as Sir David Attenborough’s favourite place to witness nature, to puffin-filled cliffs, these UK locations offer some of the best wildlife experiences in Europe. Cairngorms National Park is home to a quarter of the UK’s rare and endangered species, and successful re-introduction programmes have made red squirrel sightings a common sight at Plas Newydd on the Isle of Anglesey. *

Each spring, the Northumberland and Yorkshire coastlines play host to internationally renowned seabird spectacles, whilst a winter trip to Norfolk provides one of the UK’s best wildlife encounters as thousands of seal pups are born.

Despite ongoing biodiversity loss in the UK – where there has been a 19% decline in wildlife populations since 1970 – these locations offer a rare chance to witness nature at its most spectacular, showing how conservation work and protecting the UK’s wildlife matters more than ever. **

A recent Arbtech survey found 89% of Brits are concerned about the decline of UK wildlife, yet one in three admit they take no action to support or protect local species.

A spokesperson for Arbtech said: “We want to put the spotlight on these incredible wildlife spots to showcase just how important conservation projects are, and how nature can thrive in this country when it’s protected.

“Our survey shows that the majority of Brits do care about the decline of wildlife, but many may not know what they can do to help. Supporting local conservation efforts or even making small changes at home can make a real difference.

“Seeing wildlife in its natural habitat is a powerful reminder of what we have to lose if we don’t act now, and could inspire people to take steps to protect species for future generations.”

Seven must-visit wildlife locations across the UK:

Cairngorms National Park, Scotland

UK locations for wildlife

This diverse landscape is home to a rich variety of habitats for wildlife including many endangered, unique, and rare species – with the Cairngorms being home to 25% of the UK’s rare and endangered species. There are nine National Nature Reserves across the park, and the array of wildlife species you may be able to see include ospreys, the Scottish wildcat, golden eagle, red squirrel, snow bunting, crested tit, dotterel, and black grouse.

Farne Islands, Northumberland

The Farne Islands were declared by Sir David Attenborough as his favourite place to see wildlife in the UK, and it’s not hard to see why. The archipelago is home to an internationally significant breeding colony of seabirds and Atlantic grey seals, and you can catch a boat from the harbour at Seahouses and sail around the Farne Islands to get a close look from the water at the thousands of birds and seals that come here to breed each year. Visiting between mid-April and late July is best for seabird spectacles.

Bempton Cliffs, Yorkshire

UK locations for wildlife

This RSPB nature reserve is home to the UK’s largest seabird colony, with around half a million seabirds gathering here between March and August each year to raise a family on the towering chalk cliffs overlooking the North Sea. Puffins, gannets, kittiwakes and guillemots are amongst the seabirds you may spot at this popular location.

Blakeney Point, Norfolk

UK locations for wildlife

Blakeney Point is a four-mile shingle ridge and dune, backed by salt marsh and mudflats. It’s also home to England’s largest grey seal colony with around 9,000 pups born each winter. Noted for its spectacular displays of the summer-breeding tern colony, it’s internationally recognised as an important breeding area for sea birds and a wide variety of other birdlife, thanks to approximately 160 hectares of freshwater grazing marsh.

Isle of Anglesey, Wales

Wildlife is in abundance on the Isle of Anglesey. South Stack cliffs are a vital breeding ground for guillemots, razorbills and puffins in spring. Cemlyn Nature Reserve is best visited from May through to July when it plays host to the nesting colonies of sandwich, common and Arctic terns. And following successful re-introduction programmes, red squirrels are now common to see at Plas Newydd.

Pembrokeshire Coast, Wales

Pembrokeshire has an array of wildlife including rare birds such as choughs, skylarks and the stonechat. 12 of the UK’s bat species can be found here, and thanks to a nutrient-rich ocean, sightings of porpoises, dolphins, minke whales and fin whales can be common. And while sightings are less common, you may even get the chance to see exotic wildlife such as leatherback turtles, sunfish, basking sharks, blue sharks, and mako sharks.

Dartmoor National Park, Devon

UK locations for wildlife

Dartmoor National Park is home to many rare or endangered plant and animal species. On the upland moors you can find ground-nesting birds such as curlew, plovers, snipe and skylarks, with the park also known as a popular habitat for rarer species like cuckoos and ring ouzels. Large populations of the UK’s only venomous snake, adders, can be found most active between March and October, while Dartmoor ponies can be found throughout the park, with summer being the best time to spot the iconic breed out grazing in open areas of the moor.

With parents becoming increasingly concerned about the impact of screentime on their children – sparking a surge in searches for ways to unplug and reconnect – screen-free holidays could be the solution.

From January to December 2025, search interest in “digital detox” jumped 40%, while searches for “screen free kids” have skyrocketed 150% since the start of last year. Other queries like “how to limit screentime” (+68%), “kids screentime” (+49%), “screen fatigue” (+108%), and “how to switch off” (+25%) have increased in the last year, revealing a clear trend: families are actively seeking ways to disconnect from their phones, and reconnect with each other.

reducing screentime

This is paired with parents’ desire to replicate the adventures of their own childhoods – complete with fresh air and phone-free outdoor exploration – reflected in a 274% surge in searches for “travel activities” over the past four months.

Following insights from Camplify’s Analogue Escape Index – which revealed Devon, Cumbria and Yorkshire are England’s top counties for off-grid breaks – here are five tips to help families switch off and introduce children to the joys of a screen-free break. Let’s reduce that screentime!

Camplify UK’s top five tips for a seamless screen-free family holiday:

  1. Set expectations before your holiday

Before you even pack your bags, have a quick family chat about the screen rules on your trip – how much time is allowed, when it’s okay to use devices, and what happens if the rules are broken.

Clear communication reduces conflicts and ensures that everyone knows the purpose of digital boundaries. Framing the holiday as a chance to connect and disconnect from screens also sets the tone for a relaxed, fun-filled break.

  1. Create “screen windows”
reducing screentime

Instead of allowing constant access to devices, establish designated “screen windows” during which kids can use phones and tablets, ideally for no more than 30 to 60 minutes at a time. Avoid random or spontaneous usage, and keep meals completely screen-free to encourage conversation, laughter, and shared memories that no phone could replicate.

By structuring screen time, children can enjoy their devices while still appreciating offline moments.

  1. Make the alternative more exciting
reducing screentime

Prepare a holiday activity bag with new books, puzzles, or travel games. You could even channel the retro nostalgia of your own childhood by teaching your child to use analogue items like a compass, physical map, or digital camera – the latter two of which have seen 40% and 68% increase in search interest in the last two years.

For day trips, choose destinations that are naturally screen-free, like long walks, historic castles, sprawling parks, nature trails, and stargazing nights. When the offline options are fun and stimulating, kids will happily leave screens behind.

  1. Give them responsibility

Even on holiday, kids enjoy taking on new tasks and responsibilities, which can give them a sense of ownership and excitement.

For example, when staying in a campervan, involve them in practical roles such as setting up the awning, filling water containers, or being the “chief navigator” during journeys. Assigning meaningful responsibilities encourages participation, teaches them new skills, and reduces their reliance on screens for entertainment and fulfilment.

  1. Model the behaviour
reducing screentime

Children closely observe adult habits, so it is crucial for parents and guardians to set healthy screen time examples. If the grown-ups are constantly checking phones, the kids will follow suit.

Leave your phone away from the table before meals, and consider sharing your child’s digital detox hour each day. Demonstrating your own enjoyment of time offline can help reinforce positive habits for the whole family.

Getting off-grid and reconnecting with family and nature is even easier on the road. Renting a campervan allows for travel at your own pace, and a return to a simpler way of holidaying.

The Camplify UK platform offers thousands of vehicles to choose from, so your family can enjoy an analogue escape, with the freedom of the open road ahead.
