It’s a Saturday in May, the sun is shining and I’m off to visit Cottons Hotel & Spa.
Tucked away in the greenery of Knutsford, Cheshire, Cottons Hotel & Spa comprises of a hotel, fully equipped spa and gym (for the ultimate spa experience), a restaurant and bar and meetings and events spaces.
I started the day with a light lunch in the restaurant, where you can choose two courses from their spa restaurant menu which is included in some of their packages. There’s plenty of options and dietaries are catered to as well (winner)! It was delicious, super hearty and very filling.

Then it was time to unwind in the spa…the best part! A short walk from the main hotel and restaurant, the spa area has an indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and even an outdoor jacuzzi. Yes, there is an outdoor jacuzzi in Manchester, but if you’re lucky to visit on a day where the sun is shining, one dip in the outdoor jacuzzi is just enough to transport you to your favourite Mediterranean destination.

Step into your slippers and wrap up in your robe as you prepare for the ultimate relaxation. There’s a hatch by the pool where you can order drinks too, so of course I opted for the pink fizz.
And onto the main event, the massage. The spa works with Caudalie for all treatments. Caudalie is a French skincare brand created by Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas in Bordeaux in 1995. All products are developed using natural ingredients from the vine and grapes of the family vineyard.

The bed was heated, the music set to playing those perfect tunes you only hear in a massage room, and the scent from the diffuser and products filling the air to set the scene for the next 80 minutes, perfect. The treatments list is extensive and covers facial care, body rituals, signatures and more. I opted for ‘Temple Spa The Ultimate Glow’, a whole 1 hour 20 minutes of back, face and scalp treatment and myyyy goodness was it good!
Following your treatment, you can make your way to the relaxation room to lie down and bask in the feeling of stepping away from reality and into your spa bubble. With fresh fruit water and beds that your body moulds to, it’s the perfect way to end your day.
So, take it from me, if you’re in need of some R&R and the ultimate spa experience, it’s definitely a spot to add to your to do list!
