It’s official – summer is over (or at least any hope we had of a hot summer) and now we are well and truly into autumn. Autumn fashion can be great fun and there are plenty of ways you can play around and customise it.
While you might need to layer up, you will also need to think of how your outfit will look when you are somewhere that is warm with central heating. After all, you won’t be stuck outside in the cold for too long! If you are worried your autumn outfits are a bit drab, we have put together some tips to instantly elevate your winter wardrobe.
Make sure you accessorise

Never underestimate the power of accessories! There are so many types of accessories out there, whether you decide to opt for a belt to cinch your waist, a statement hairband, or perhaps some eye-catching jewellery you are spoilt for choice. There are many jewellers online where you can browse Autumnal style pieces, as well as a host of other accessory shops to find belts and hair bands. Don’t forget to also consider the type of bag you want – and the colour as this can make a huge difference to your ensemble.
Layer up your clothes
Layering is another great way to elevate your Autumn wardrobe and lends itself to a variety of weather situations throughout the day. Because as we all know, the weather can be more than a little predictable. If you head to work early in the morning you can see frost on the ground, but by lunchtime, it can be a lot warmer. Wear a t-shirt underneath your jumper, a dress with tights and socks and a cardigan over a t-shirt. These all mean that you can take off or put on layers depending on how you feel. It also looks great as you can mix and match up different colours and styles, either dressing up or dressing down what you are wearing. You can dress up a black dress with a blazer during the day, then swap the blazer for a cardigan if you are heading somewhere more casual.
Invest in a high-quality coat

Coats are a real staple in the Autumn, but you want to invest in a good quality one to get the best impact. Remember you will likely wear this the majority of the time and therefore it is a good idea to spend a little more on a better quality one. There are a host of different coat styles out there, from a trench coat to a short jacket, a shacket or a long wool coat. Do your research, try some on and see which is best. Remember to size up as you will be wearing it over bulkier clothing items such as jumpers.
These are just a few ways that you can elevate your Autumn wardrobe. Autumn can be one of the most fun seasons to dress for and there are so many different styles you can try. What do you think of our top ways to elevate your winter wardrobe? Let us know in the comments below!
