Lost & Found Ushers In a New Season Of Taste

The Lost & Found, Greek Street Leeds is known for deliciously imaginative drinks and sumptuous surroundings. When we were invited to try their new Spring/Summer menu, we were excited to see if the dishes lived up to the decadent décor.

Arriving at Lost & Found on a dreary Wednesday evening, we entered into welcoming Gatsby-esque surroundings with a relaxed yet refined mood. Straightaway it’s clear both cosy couples or groups of friends would enjoy the intimate but cool vibe for an evening out or post-work get together.

Weather immediately forgotten in the cosy surroundings, we decided to forgo cocktails – opting for a delicate but dry Zinfandel Blush Rose instead – and concentrated on choosing which dishes to try from the new menu.

There’s a large variety of dishes to choose from, it is packed with tantalising treats. However opting for the Baked British Camembert to start was definitely a wise choice! It was baked to perfection. Smooth, creamy and accompanied by honey drizzle, thyme, red onion marmalade and in all honestly, more toasted sourdough than we could handle; although it was so good that we gave it a good try! The Crispy Halloumi was equally delightful and was paired with classic chilli jam, fresh cucumber, spring onion and chilli salad.

For the main event, the Lamb Mixed Grill could upon reflection have been a risky choice, given the amount of meat involved (and not wanting to forgo dessert!), but the chargrilled kofte, marinated lamb chop, Mercury sausage and charred flatbread with seasoned fries, harissa yogurt, houmous, red onion and parsley salad sounded like a great combination. We weren’t disappointed; the combination gave the dish as a whole a depth of flavour, and although filling it wasn’t heavy but rather immensely satisfying. The Pan-fried Chicken Breast with sautéed potatoes, chorizo, spinach, semi-dried tomato tapenade, charred tenderstem broccoli and saffron aioli was a more delicate dish and felt fresh, fun and full of the taste of summer.

To finish the meal, we choose two classics. First the Dark Chocolate Brownie – it had a delightfully rich flavour offset by the salted popcorn, cherry compote, chocolate and blood orange ice cream.  Then the Sticky Toffee Pudding. This old school favourite all of a sudden felt reimagined, being moist and decadent and accompanied by miso caramel sauce, toffee honeycomb and caramel ice cream. Delicious!

Not only was every dish spot-on for taste, the service was very friendly and efficient throughout and the vibe relaxed.

We’re already planning a return to try out some of the other dishes on the menu and maybe, this time, even taste one (or two!) of their renowned cocktails!
