With so many subscription boxes on the market, it is difficult to stand out, however this was never going to be a problem for Bombillow, a unique subscription box offering the UK a way to try good high quality cacao products made by amazing Artisan chocolatiers.
The products change each month, which is perfect if like us, you are a chocoholic (and we mean good quality chocolate, not your shop bought bar of fruit and nut!), you will enjoy discovering many different flavours and combinations and it is also a way to save money, as purchasing such products individually would be awfully expensive and, Bombillo fits through the letterbox so could not be more convenient!
This is a family run business of a mother and daughter based in Essex on the Suffolk boarder, with a huge passion for what chocolate really is.
Each month boxes contain a variety of truffles, bars and bags of cacao covered beans, fruits, nuts etc, from a variety of different chocolatiers – all in one box. There is also an email and QR code linking to the full story of each chocolatier explaining what makes their products so amazing. This really is a unique, personal service which we were invited to try.
As I said, we are true chocoholics, so this was something we were looking forward to!
Our box arrived – through the letterbox as promised and the sight greeting us when we opened the box was enough to generate a chorus of oooh’s and aaaah’s from the whole office! We received the May Box and included in our edible delights were a bar of @gemini.chocolate Orange & Tamarind chocolate, this bar is sensational and no need for nasty sugars here. Just natural deliciousness in every mouthful.
We had @anisa_chocolate Philippines Bean to Bar – luxurious creamy richness with a subtle smokey-sweet dark chocolate with notes of malt, biscuit, caramel and macadamia that just melts away with every bite.
There were @chocbox_uk Raw Crillo Cacao Coated Coffee Beans – we loved these but beware, you can eat the whole bag in one go!
The Vegan Cookies & Cream Bar – now as well as no nasties, this is one heck of a treat, crunchy, creamy and hard to put down.
@humblebeez.uk Nutmeg and Honeycomb Bonbon which is not only stunning for the eye but insane for the taste buds. It must be said we fought over these.
Bombillo want to invite the country to delve into the world of real chocolate, helping people to discover tastes they never knew they would love while exploring why good cacao has so many health benefits.
Although we had a vegan bar in our box of delights, there is actually a dedicated Vegan Box. They have thought of everything.
