Audrey’s is situated in the effortlessly cool Bank Side, just south of the Thames. A perfect spot for after work dinner and drinks or a super charged breakfast perhaps washed down with a cheeky breakfast cocktail. This bright and bustling café bar near London Bridge is open daily from 8am, and is perfectly located for anyone who fancies dropping in for a delicious meal or even just a snack.
The spring menu at Audrey’s has had a total makeover with newly appointed head chef Vincent Hiss now at the helm. French-born Vincent’s cheffing career has spanned over two decades and has seen him in many a kitchen in the UK including stints at Jardin des Gourmets Soho, and seven years in the role of head chef at The Roof Gardens Kensington. We were thrilled to be invited to try the new menu, as Vincent showcases his flair and expertise, promising to focus on the best locally sourced seasonal food.
On entering the cafe bar it becomes apparently very quickly that this is a great place to settle into a relaxed vibe. The staff were so friendly – and can I add, happy to see us! They seemed excited and eager for customers to really enjoy their venue. What a pleasure to be greeted by a smiling, enthusiastic and knowledgeable team!

With a combination of banquette seating, countertop dining, bar stools and a window counter overlooking the daily bustle, the red and white modern décor hints at an ‘old-school’ London café with a European twist. We were seated near the rear, which was cosy and a great place to people watch from the large, bright windows.
Audrey’s have recently introduced a new cocktail menu alongside the exciting fresh menu. You can wile away your spring nights and visit between 5pm and 7pm for Audrey’s 7 till 7 offer, where you can enjoy all seven of Audrey’s classic cocktails for just £7! A steal in central London! We chose a delectable selection of drinks throughout the evening, including a deeply aromatic Fig Negroni and a fresh and light Rum Swizzle. The cocktails are worth a visit alone, with a varied wine list on offer too. Audrey’s list of biodynamic European wines includes cherry-picked bins including organic Cotes du Rhone rose, and orange wine Maceration De Soif Sauvignon Blanc – both are ideal to enjoy on the terrace or under Audrey’s awnings if you get caught in a typical Spring rain shower!

We were excited to try a few dishes from the starter menu. Whitebait is a favourite of ours, and we were delighted to be served plump, gently coated pieces which were brought to us alongside a moorish, slightly spiced dip. We also selected a delicious, smooth chicken pate with generous slices of brioche, and a red onion jam – which paired beautifully. Being big fans of Borough Market we simply had to order the Fish Cakes – sourced locally from the market which is just around the corner.

My dining partner chose the steak for his main course. This plate is ideal for any meat lover. An enormous, perfectly cooked piece of beef with the most delectable rich sauce you won’t forget in a hurry! I chose the rabbit special which was nose to tail, smothered in another heady flavoured sauce, with fresh vegetables of carrot and courgette. Incredibly satisfying and full of character – we both exclaimed that we’d guess the chef was French without being told, such was the depth of flavour and richness of the sauces. Delicious!

Leaving room for dessert we had to try the Crème Brûlée and the deconstructed Black Forest gateau – with both being huge favourites of ours. The sweet, creamy brûlée came inside real egg shells with meringue dippy soldiers, perfect for sharing! I was happy to comply as I was desperate to try the gateau, which was a delight to look at as well as to taste. The perfect end to a clever and super appetising menu!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Audrey’s and would highly recommend you take the time to visit when you’re in the capital. Whether the sun is shining or some pesky rain clouds appear you’ll be snug, relaxed and very well fed and watered!
