The New Menu is One Not to be Missed at The Franklin

A superstar Chef is making his presence known at one of London’s most luxurious Hotels, The Franklin.

The Franklin is a stylish boutique hotel based in the prestigious area of Knightsbridge boasting interiors designed by non-other than the well-known Anouska Hempel. As soon as you enter this iconic townhouse you are greeted with sultry surroundings which exude class and sophistication. The staff are so welcoming and proud to represent both the hotel and restaurant.

The reason for my visit was to have an exclusive tasting of the new and innovative menu from the recently appointed Head Chef – Roberto Roncolato. Roberto brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to The Franklin Restaurant by Alfredo Russo, having worked previously in several 1 and 2 Michelin star establishments.

Taking influence from his heritage, Chef Roberto’s talents truly shine through with this original Mediterranean inspired spring menu. Plus, with the added benefit of working alongside Mr Alfredo Russo himself, it raises the bar that much higher making this duo a gastronomic force not to be messed with.

We started off with a welcome cocktail in their glamourous, Gatsby style bar ornamented with mirrored walls. The team have cleverly created an immersive menu called ‘The Grand Tour’ where you pick your ‘Travellers’ style and select your chosen drink in order to travel through the regions of Italy’s south coast.

Now onto the food! You may all think that I have to leave a positive review but believe when I say, the dishes were out of this world! The food was incredible! Every single person at the dining table fell nearly silent (apart from all the yum and mmmmm noises!) when the handmade tortellini filled with slow cooked veal and butter lime emulsion arrived. One of the best tortellini pasta dishes I’ve EVER had! The buttery pasta melted in your mouth and left us all wanting for more.

We were taken on a culinary journey with a 5-course menu (a vegetarian option is available) plus accompanying champagne with each course from the world-renowned Ferrari Trento. I look at myself as somewhat of a champagne connoisseur and again, I am going to tell you, this was simply divine! The bubbles complimented every single mouthful perfectly.

The new menu at The Franklin is one not to be missed especially for all my fellow foodie friends – it is a true triumph for your taste buds! Bellissima!
